ACQUISITION VETTING ANALYST
YOUR MISSION
Your mission in this role is to take full ownership of the deal vetting and analysis process, driving and ensuring a consistent, high-quality deal flow. You will proactively review incoming deals and spot the best acquisition opportunities, rigorously evaluating each to align with our clients’ unique skills and aspirations. As you progress in this position, you will have the opportunity to oversee the entire deal process, from identifying potential acquisitions to presenting them to clients. By autonomously managing this process, you will empower our clients to seamlessly find and acquire their ideal businesses, maintaining excellence in deal flow without the need for founder involvement in daily operations.

WHAT YOU'LL BE ACHIEVING
- Daily review and processing of the ‘deal inbox’, vetting on-market listings against our client’s search criteria and assessing which we should proceed in getting more details of. Processing roughly 50 - 150 deals per day.
- Requesting information on deals that appear promising. 10 per client per week.
- Reviewing and signing NDAs of opportunities we’d like more information on, ensuring that there’s nothing in the NDA that might charge us money or is something that could put our business or clients at risk.
- Conduct detailed reviews of Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs) and Profit & Loss statements to assess the financial health and performance trends of potential acquisition targets, and whether it would make a good match for our clients. 5 per client per week .
- Beyond numerical analysis, evaluate the business model, market position, competitive landscape, and growth potential of target companies.
- Writing detailed notes of questions, concerns, areas of clarification needed to help the Vetting Director prepare for calls with brokers or owners of business opportunities.
- Communicating with owners or brokers via email to get more information and missing pieces.
- Coordinating with the Vetting Director including reviewing opportunities and taking calls, to ensure there’s enough time to get them done.
- Reviewing transcripts broker/owner calls, doing a final assessment of any additional financial details, and if opportunity makes past our vetting, and create a comprehensive write-up to share with the Vetting Director for review. We aim for at least 1 write up per week, per client.
- Working with the deal sourcing team (initial data entry team) to ensure healthy deal flow, noticing trends and working with the team to adapt when things slow or pick up.
- Constantly reviewing and updating the ‘deal box’ of clients as we get more information from them about what they like and don’t like so we always have the most up-to-date.
- Reviewing and Processing financials of off-market opportunities to put into our modeling format for review by Vetting Director.
- Making calls to brokers and clients, as well as having weekly team calls, between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm CT, Monday through Friday.
YOUR SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Financial Acumen: Proficient in analyzing Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements. Comfortable with financial forecasting and calculations for SDE/Adjusted EBITDA, DSCR, investor returns (MOIC/IRR), and understanding loan payments, working capital, capex, and cash conversion cycles. Knowledge of SBA financing ideal.
- Market Analysis: Capable of evaluating market conditions to determine if businesses are in growth, stagnation, or decline.
- Strategic Matching: Skilled at aligning potential business opportunities with our clients' skills and aspirations.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptionally focused on the fine details, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of work.
- Trend Identification: Adept at spotting both market and financial trends, identifying risks and opportunities within potential deals.
- Opportunity Management: Ability to track and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously without losing focus.
- Business Insight: Strong understanding of small business dynamics and factors contributing to a stable and successful business.
- M&A Experience: Knowledgeable in mergers and acquisitions, with a preference for experience in the small to medium business sector.
- Virtual Communication Proficiency: You're adept with modern communication platforms, including Telegram for team collaboration, Signal for secure client communications, and Zoom for video conferencing. Familiarity and comfort, or willingness to independently and quickly learn these tools are essential for effective remote teamwork and client interaction.
IDEAL TECH EXPERIENCE
- Proficient in CRM management, ideally HubSpot. (Intermediate)
- Familiar with Notion for collaborative work and documentation. (Basic)
- Comfortable using Google Workspace (Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Gmail) for daily tasks and communication. (Intermediate)
- Experience with Descript or similar tools is a plus. (Basic)
- High-speed internet and a reliable computer for seamless Zoom meetings and efficient remote work.

This project is designed to assess your practical skills and your approach to real-world scenarios you'd encounter in the role. The sample project will be a small task that shouldn't take more than a few hours to complete and will give us insight into your problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and proficiency in the skills necessary for the job.
Step 4: Upon successful completion and review of the sample project, selected candidates will be invited for a final interview discussion to talk about expectations, and fit within the team and company culture.
