BUSINESS ACQUISITION PROSPECTOR

YOUR MISSION

Your mission in this role is to proactively reach out to business owners through cold calling and emailing to explore their interest in selling their business. You will be the first point of contact, making business owners feel comfortable and excited about having a conversation with us. Your goal is to set appointments with our Vetting Director for qualified leads, ensuring a smooth transition and high-quality lead flow. By effectively communicating our value proposition and building relationships, you will play a critical role in expanding our pipeline of acquisition opportunities, which will help business owners sell their businesses to people who will look after their legacy. And help our clients to become business owners and write their own futures.

Reporting to: Vetting Director

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE ACHIEVING

  • Conducting daily cold calls and sending emails to potential business sellers, targeting 50-100 contacts per day.
  • Identifying and qualifying leads by asking initial vetting questions and understanding business owners' motivations and readiness to sell. 
  • Setting up appointments for our Vetting Director for further discussions with qualified leads. 10 - 20 per week to start, and increasing over time.
  • Maintaining detailed records of interactions and follow-ups in our Hubspot CRM system.
  • Crafting personalized outreach messages and compelling call scripts to engage business owners effectively.
  • Working with our operations manager to automate and refine the process, to ensure we’re getting the best quality leads and giving business owners the best experience. 
  • Continuously improving outreach strategies based on feedback and results, namely what helps move businesses to write up, LOI, and close for our clients.
  • Collaborating with the Vetting Director to ensure a seamless handover of qualified leads.
  • Providing insights and feedback from interactions to refine our prospecting approach and messaging.
  • Meeting and exceeding weekly and monthly targets for calls, emails, and appointments set. 
  • Working with the deal sourcing team (initial data entry team) to ensure healthy deal flow, noticing trends and working with the team to adapt when things slow or pick up. 
  • Making calls to brokers and clients, as well as having weekly team calls, between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm CT, Monday through Friday.

 

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Proven Role Experience: Proven experience in a prospecting, hunting, or appointment-setting role, preferably in the M&A, SMB, or B2B sectors.
  • High-Volume Outreach: Experience with high-volume cold calling and email outreach.
  • Lead Qualification Methodologies: Experience in identifying and qualifying leads, preferably using methodologies like ChAMP, ANUM, BANT, or NOTE.
  • Persuasive Messaging: Demonstrated ability to craft persuasive outreach messages and pitches.
  • Handling Objections: Experience in handling sales objections and turning them into opportunities.
  • CRM Proficiency: Proficient in using CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot) to manage and track leads.
  • Follow-Up Strategies: Experience in setting reminders and following up persistently to reduce no-show rates and increase engagement.
  • Independent Work: Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
  • Strategic Matching: Skilled at identifying potential business opportunities with our clients' skills and aspirations.
  • Opportunity Management: Ability to track and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously without losing focus or forgetting details.
  • Business Insight: Strong understanding of small business dynamics and factors contributing to a stable and successful business.
  • M&A Experience: Knowledgeable in mergers and acquisitions, with a preference for experience in the small to medium business sector.
  • Virtual Communication Proficiency: You're adept with modern communication platforms, including Telegram for team collaboration, Signal for secure client communications, and Zoom for video conferencing. Familiarity and comfort, or willingness to independently and quickly  learn these tools are essential for effective remote teamwork and client interaction.


IDEAL TECH EXPERIENCE

  • Proficient in CRM management, ideally HubSpot. (Intermediate)
  • Familiar with Notion for collaborative work and documentation. (Basic)
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace (Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Gmail) for daily tasks and communication. (Intermediate)
  • High-speed internet and a reliable computer for seamless Zoom meetings and efficient remote work.

Step 3: Candidates who stand out in the interview will be given a sample project relevant to the role. This project is designed to assess your practical skills and your approach to real-world scenarios you'd encounter in the role. The sample project will be a small task that shouldn't take more than a few hours to complete and will give us insight into your problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and proficiency in the skills necessary for the job.

Step 4: Upon successful completion and review of the sample project, selected candidates will be invited for a final interview discussion to talk about expectations, and fit within the team and company culture.
